Black Carriage Bolt GB/T14/DIN603/GB/T12-85
A carriage bolt (also known as a carriage bolt and a round-headed, square-necked bolt)[1] is a type of bolt. In Australia and New Zealand, it is also known as a domed head bolt.It differs from other bolts in that it has a shallow mushroom-shaped head and the cross-section of the shank, although round for most of its length (as with other types of bolt), is square immediately below the head[2], allowing the bolt to self-lock as it passes through a square hole in a metal strip. This allows the fastener to be installed from the other end using a simple spanner. The head of a body bolt is usually a shallow dome. The shank is not threaded and has a diameter equal to the size of the square section.Framing bolts are used to pass through iron reinforcement plates on either side of a wooden beam, and the square section of the bolt fits into a square hole in the framing. Structural bolts are commonly used on exposed timber, as the square section provides sufficient grip to prevent rotation.Body bolts are widely used in security applications such as locks and hinges, where the bolt must be removed from one side only. The smooth domed head and square nut underneath prevent carriage bolts from being pinched or turned to the unsecured side.
